[Downrange is] a low budget suspense horror focusing on the fears, anxieties, and impatience of a few twenty-somethings stuck in a desperate situation. September 28, 2017| Rating: C+| Full Review Jared Mobarak The Film Stage. Keeping the characters (and audience) pinned like this for the whole film is a bold. Sep 15, 2017. When bodies fall in “Downrange,” they make an unbearable noise: a squelching, like taking a tomato in your hand and crushing it in one clench. This happens to a group of college students on a road trip who are ambushed on the side of the road by an unseen shooter, and in just a few moments at the. A marvel of simplicity, this tool has a single-minded goal: to settle the breaching argument. No barrier is a match for the beveled edge axe head, the hammer head. Thriller Stranded at the side of the road after a tire blowout, a group of friends become targets for an enigmatic sniper. As I'm writing this review, news has just broken of another mass shooting, this time in Texas. It's another in what has become a regular occurrence in America: random shootings, casualties, the nation mourns, then we move on until the next incident, which, tragically, is never far off. These frequent acts of. ![]() The result of 9/11 was years of brutal filmmaking. Out of the chaos came films like Cabin Fever, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, High Tension, Hostel, and even SAW, all of which helped give birth to what mainstream press obnoxiously referred to as “torture porn”. The pain and suffering ran its course by 2006 and set the stage for Paranormal Activity to shift filmmakers’ focus to found-footage. ![]() While James Wan’s The Conjuring universe is dominating the box office, the strain on the world is starting to infect directors once again; New Line Cinema’s IT reflects this as we can all feel the seismic shift on the horizonhorror is about to get brutal once again. Alex Aja’s High Tension helped launch the return of hardcore horror in 2003 when it screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, and now Ryuhei Kitamura is doing the same with his Downrange, which world premiered as part of the Midnight Madness program. The premise is quite simple, stranding a carpool of teenagers on the side of the road as an enigmatic sniper targets them one-by-one. Kitamura’s Downrange is 100% pure rage, leaving brains splattered across the hot pavement, and murdering innocent children who accidentally end up at the wrong place at the wrong time. It’s about as mean-spirited as horror can getand it’s glorious. While typically turned off by films this dark and unforgiving, Downrange is an uncomfortable and unapologetic breath of fresh air. It feels necessary. Horror has gone soft. This premise is nothing new, with Ti West having shot out Trigger Man in 2007, while Mickey Keating more recently took aim at Sundance audiences with his Carnage Park (2016). Downrange is better than both, pushing the boundaries of what’s capable in a single location. Kitamura begins eviscerating people within minutes and uses simple logic to introduce more fresh meat throughout the picture. There’s a firestorm of bullets and flesh that make it one of the bloodiest films in recent memory. What was remarkable, however, was how engaging it all is. It’s loaded with nonstop thrills that will have audiences on the edge of their seats until the shocking conclusion. If there’s actual social commentary in Downrange is debatable, but in the current climate, it gets a pass.

(April 2017) () () The television blackout policies are the strictest policies among the in North America. From through, the NFL maintained a blackout policy that states that a home game cannot be televised in the team's local if all tickets are not sold out 72 hours prior to its start time. This makes the NFL the only major professional sports league in the US that requires teams to sell out tickets in order to broadcast a game on television locally. Although nationally-televised games in the other leagues are often blacked out on the national networks on which the game is airing in the local markets of the participating teams, they can still be seen on the local broadcast TV station or that normally holds their local/regional broadcast rights. The league blackout policy has been suspended on a year-to-year basis since. Furthermore, the NFL is the only league that imposes an in all teams' local markets: the NFL sells of each team's Thursday and Monday night games to a local over-the-air station in each local market. The respective cable station must be blacked out when that team is playing the said game. For instance, the 1958 between the and was unavailable to viewers in the New York City market despite the sellout at (many fans rented hotel rooms or visited friends in areas of or where signals of TV stations carrying the game were available to watch the game on television, a practice that continued for Giants games through 1972). With all that baggage hanging over them, what’s the likeliest thing that could happen (aside from their falling out, that is)? The answer – of course – is that they run into an embezzler on the run, Miller (Cusack), and the four bags he’s jumped out of a plane with but become separated from. The bags contain a cool eight million dollars, and Miller is determined to be reunited with them. But he hasn’t counted on Lynn’s equal determination to keep them for herself And that’s the movie in a nutshell. Embezzler jumps out of a plane with eight million dollars in cash stuffed into four bags, loses them to Lynn and Jeff (Victor correctly guesses it’s stolen money and he doesn’t want anything to do with it; hooray for someone behaving sensibly in one of these movies), and spends the remainder of the movie trying to get it all back from them. ![]() Blood Money on DVD December 19, 2017 starring John Cusack, Ellar Coltrane, Willa Fitzgerald. Three friends on a wilderness excursion must outrun a white collar. Oct 13, 2017. As Blood Money becomes more and more about two dummies who really don't get the woman they're fighting over, it gets more interesting. It's just too far down the B-movie river to be saved by that point. A simple plot, no frills, and potentially, a timely reminder that it’s often the simplest of plots that make for the best movies. Just not this time though. Instead, Blood Money insists on putting its characters through the mill in a succession of scenes that make you wonder if writers Jared Butler and Lars Norberg had worked out any of it in advance. The trio of unhappy campers bicker and argue while Miller wanders along the side of a river seemingly in no hurry to retrieve his ill-gotten gains and then skip the country (there’s an element of the D.B. Cooper story here but that has more drama to it than this does). At one point, Victor, having left his “friends”, comes upon Miller lying asleep on a makeshift table. It’s as potent a message as to the movie’s reliance on logic as you could ever need. The movie does do something right, though, and while it may not pan out as effectively as hoped, it is a better idea than might be expected. The standard approach for this kind of wilderness thriller is to have the thief as the bad guy (he won’t let anything stand in his way, etc. Etc.), and the lone female the eventual heroine who overcomes fear, panic, injury and several attempts on her life before eventually triumphing over the bad guy. Here, though, Butler and Norberg have chosen to make Lynn the bad guy, and Miller the character the viewer ends up rooting for. Once Lynn gets her hands on the money, it’s instant addiction time, and no one, not even Miller is going to stop her from keeping it. 6/5/2018 Becoming Warren Buffett (2017) stream online in english with english subtitles 2160pRead NowFeb 27, 2017. Earlier this week, HBO aired “,” a documentary that chronicles the upbringing and personal philosophy of the stock market titan. Chock full of the traditionalist eccentricities the “oracle of Omaha” is best known for–like his love of Coca Cola, and the fact that he lives in the same house he bought in 1958 for $31,500–the film also reveals a surprising set of facts even Buffett die hards may have missed. Here are five of our favorites. ![]() The stock market dictates his breakfast Buffett, who drives himself to work to every day, makes at drive-thru. When the stock market is up, he spends $3.17 on his breakfast — the cost of a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. When the market is down, Buffett opts for a Sausage McMuffin with egg and cheese. When he’s “not feeling so prosperous,” he buys two sausage patties for a grand total of $2.61. At the beginning of his marriage to Susan, Buffett made plans to give the bulk of his future fortune to charity. The plan, he says, was to accumulate wealth until his death, with Susan deciding where to donate the money. When she died of a stroke in 2004, Buffett switched gears, and gave more than $30 billion to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation — the largest charitable donation in history. In 2010, Buffett, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg signed a pledge to donate at least half of their wealth to charity, and urged other wealthy people to do the same. In archived footage, Susan talks about Buffett’s displeasure in America’s gender disparity. “Wait until women discover they’re the slaves of the world,” she recalls him saying. In the doc, Buffett doubles down on that sentiment, and quips that he believes the country would be more successful if more women were in business. In recent years, Buffett’s charitable giving has gone towards securing rights for low income women workers, ending the mass incarceration of women, domestic violence prevention and other efforts aimed at closing the gender gap. © 2017 Time Inc. Grace and peace unto you. The subject of generational curses is so controversial, that it is rarely, if ever preached. I have never heard it preached in my entire life, yet generational curses are responsible for destroying more people’s lives than possibly any other reason. It is also responsible for destroying many Christians’ testimonies. That this subject is not being preached is not surprising given that most churches today are more concerned with keeping the offering basket filled than with the spiritual well being of their congregations. Truth be told, many preachers are themselves under a generational curse, and this affects their ability to preach hard-core gospel. We here don’t have that problem; so today we will discuss this menace, because many unsaved people’s lives have been utterly ruined by a generational curse, while many Christians are having great problems in their Christian walk and are having their testimonies destroyed because they are in bondage to sin due to a generational curse. Webster’s Dictionary defines abominable as, “Worthy of or causing disgust or hatred: DETESTABLE.” An abomination, therefore, is something that God detests and hates. Remember, God is Holy. How many get to the third belt? (Answer: “Not many.”) It’s just simple statistics. Nobody is trying to discourage you or anything. It’s not a plot. Nobody is out to get you. But let’s keep it real here: Just like most businesses fail within two years of starting, most Karate students don’t get to black belt. They just don’t have that time, dedication, willingness or spark. It’s not that it’s “impossible”. It’s just pretty improbable.
